Excel Packaging is proud to consistently donate time and resources to the Village of Hope, a unique shelter run by the Orange County Rescue Mission. In the past, we’ve volunteered to help make lunch in their kitchens, we’ve helped renovate residences, and we’ve sponsored kids’ participation in their summer programs.
The Village of Hope is located on a decommissioned military base, offering a 192-bed transitional housing program for homeless men, women and children. Their goal is to provide a safe, supportive environment where residents learn the skills they need to transition back into work and self-sufficiency. It is the largest of 11 shelters in Orange County run by the Orange County Rescue Mission.
We just recently had a great time playing with some of the children from the Village of Hope! Excel Packaging sponsored and participated in a day at the Great Park in Irvine with 16 resident kids from Village of Hope. We helped chaperone them from the facility over to the park, where we had a lot of fun getting to know them and playing with them. We provided them with lots of activities to choose from: volleyball, basketball, soccer, kickball, football and more. And our volunteers got right in there with the kids, playing soccer and tag! After a great day of playing and fun, Excel also provided lunch for the kids and our volunteers.
The team members who attended had such a great day spending time with the kids from the Village of Hope. The whole team was excited to hear that we’ll plan to host Park Day with the kids from Village of Hope 3 times a year!
