This past fall, the team at Excel Packaging had its first opportunity to volunteer in the kitchen at the Village of Hope. We enjoyed this experience so much that we resolved to do it again. We recently just got the chance to make lunch there once more!
Excel Packaging regularly donates to and volunteers at the Village of Hope, a unique assistance program run by the Orange County Rescue Mission and located in Tustin, Orange County, California. It’s a faith-based emergency and transitional living facility for homeless men, women and children. It offers an entire continuum of services, from outreach to independent living.
As you can see, the Village of Hope doesn’t look like a regular shelter–it looks much more like a college campus. OCRM believes that in order to restore hearts and lives, they must surround those they help with hope and beauty. They provide volunteer-based work within the facility, professional skills training, counseling, health care and much more.
We were so happy to come back recently and help prepare lunch, one of the three homemade and nutritious daily meals provided to the residents of the Village of Hope. Graphic Designer, Julia Montroy, noted that the “Village of Hope is very inspiring because they help people who are in need; to survive on their own two feet. I am lucky to be with a company that promotes volunteering opportunities for giving back to the community.”
Volunteering and giving back to our community is one of our core values at Excel Packaging. It’s one of the many things that makes Excel Packaging an awesome place to work. Share this blog, and don’t forget to subscribe so you can hear about all our philanthropy efforts and company updates!
