In 2016, US pet owners spent $66.5 billion on their furry friends. That number is estimated to grow to $69.4 billion by the end of 2017. About 40% of that money goes towards food and treats (source). More and more, pet owners are looking for food that is made with natural, sustainable ingredients and sold in packaging made with sustainable materials or methods. As a packaging supplier to the pet industry, Excel Packaging is proud to be a high-quality printer with a commitment to improving sustainability across our company, our suppliers and our industry.
We’re teaming up with the Pet Sustainability Coalition to show our commitment to reducing our environmental impact. By joining this community of environmentally-conscious companies, we’re committing to working collaboratively within our industry to affect bigger change.
The Pet Sustainability Coalition (PSC) strives to be the leading organization for sustainable advancement in the pet industry. They promote creative collaboration throughout the industry that prioritizes business-minded solutions for sincere environmental improvement. They are a nonprofit that provides education, tools and resources to help companies like ours improve our environmental and social impact for top line growth and bottom line savings.
As a member of PSC, Excel Packaging is proud to be part of a community that measures what matters. As part of this community, we’re working to drive industry-wide innovation that improves environmental and social impacts while achieving meaningful business results. This is important because we are helping our clients meet the increasing market demand for brands that benefit people, planet and profit.
We are displaying the #OnePawOnePlanet decals to show that we are a company that cares about responsible business practices. We are actively measuring our environmental and social footprint so that we can help protect our planet and global communities where we do business. Our first step was to join the Pet Sustainability Coalition and evaluate our current performance. We are now in the process of putting together an action plan! We’re investing in research and development of beautifully printed flexible packaging and pouches that use more sustainable materials, can be recycled or can even be composted. We are also adapting our office culture to this commitment, encouraging recycling as well as optimizing energy efficiency.
It’s all a part of our ongoing efforts to continuously improve our business–for our employees, for our clients and for the community at large. If you’re looking for a dedicated and reliable provider of high-quality printed flexible packaging, look no further. At Excel Packaging, we like to think of ourselves as your personal packaging consultant, always willing to adapt to your unique needs.
